Do I have to complete training to be able to work on the machines? ▼
Safety first! Yes, most of the machines in Happylab can only be used after training. In this way, we ensure that only people who have received all the important safety instructions from us work on the machines. Training on selected machines is free for Happylab members. You also have the option of booking individual training or completing an online test for selected machines via the members portal and getting started straight away.
You can find current dates for training and the link to register here.
I've used a laser cutter somewhere else before. Do I still have to undergo training before I can use the machine? ▼
Yes, you have to attend the Happylab training so that you can use the laser cutter. This ensures that only people who have received important safety instructions from us work on the machines. For Happylab members, training on the selected machines is free. In addition, you have the option of booking individual training or taking an online test for selected machines via the members portal and getting started right away.
You can find current dates for training and the link to register here.
Do you lose your training if you quit? ▼
After the membership is canceled, personal data will be deleted. This includes the training you have completed on the devices. If you plan to use the Happylab again later, a Pause for up to six months might also be an option. In this case, you will retain all device training. You can use this option once per calendar year.
Maschinennutzung & Coins
What are Happylab Coins? ▼
Your working time on the machines is billed via coins. Every membership includes a quota, comparable to free minutes on your cell phone tariff. With 1,500 coins you can, for example, laser cut for 250 minutes on the Trotec Speedy 400 or 3D print for 75 hours on the Prusa i3 MK3S. As soon as your included coins have been used up, the remaining time will be charged according to the price list. You also have the option of booking an additional package of coins.
How and when are coins billed? ▼
Coins are charged to you on most machines for the pure machine time - so only for the pure laser, milling, embroidery time, etc. in which the respective machine processes your job. This regulation may vary for individual machines for technical reasons. You can find a detailed overview in the current price list.
The end date of your work is always decisive for the billing date. In most cases this corresponds to turning off the machine at the Fabman card reader. For 3D printing, the end time of the print job is used.
What happens if I don't get the coins? ▼
If you don't get by with your included coins, you can still continue to use the devices. You will then be automatically billed according to the current price list. If it is already clear that you would like to use the Happylab more intensively, another package may be cheaper for you. An upgrade is possible at any time - even for just one month. You also have the option of booking an additional package of coins.
Can I take unused coins with me into the next month? ▼
The free quotas of the respective package cannot be carried over to the next month. Coins from a booked additional package are retained even across monthly limits.
Can I book additional coins for my membership package? How long are these coins valid for? ▼
Yes, you have the option to book an additional package of coins. These coins are retained even across monthly limits. If you want to use the Happylab more intensively on a regular basis, a tariff with more coins included may be more suitable for you.
I have booked an additional package of coins. Which coins will be deducted from me first, those from the usage quota or those from the additional package? ▼
The coins that expire first will always be deducted from you: Coins from your additional package will only be deducted from you when your monthly included coins from the usage quota have been used up.
Where can I see how many coins I have left? ▼
You can also find this information about your package in Members portal under the item “My contract”.
